JOY M. BEACON, A STORYTELLER

I am an enthusiast for discovery and learning. I love to write, in my mother tongue, Croatian, Italian and English just as well, from my heart and inspiration. Sometimes the idea comes to me on its own, or someone asks me to write.

I got my first computer when I was 9 years old, oh what a joy! I would sneak out while the family was sleeping, cheating a little, and was quickly adopting everything, an enthusiast to the core. A career path initially took me to the corporate and economic world. A suit, a laptop, and a headset in my ear were a big part of my life for a long time. It took a toll on my health. I recalled my hospital experience from the early days, and later the warning before my 28th birthday. At 40 came the second, and it was enough. I did not listen to the signs before. I have been changing since giving birth to our daughter, recognising the responsibility for my family's fortune and freedom, setting new priorities.

I have had a colourful experience, having tried many things and let go of just as many. I put away my smartphones and learned to write by hand all over again, which was quite a challenge. Parenthood showed me that my life rhythm was not in line with natural rhythms, and eventually, illnesses came in as a warning. I started to slow down so I could respond to the needs of my family. Everything came to the bill, and I became aware that a new way wasn't going to be easy. Waldorf pedagogy helped us to change perspective and vision, as a divine support for raising freedom and happiness. I started reclaiming my own handwriting and rediscovering my love for fountain pens and crayons. My great childhood love came back to life, and a silent seedling of ​​writing began to grow. Another great childhood love helped me to slow down, gardening. I started renewing a garden, only this time in the city, on our balcony. One morning, I started writing and drawing, and haven't stopped ever since. They tell me I am good, so I am finally sharing with the world what comes naturally and truly brings me joy.
