WHO IS JOY M. BEACON

She has always loved to read & tell stories, write & learn. Joy of life and curiosity are the fuel she rides on. Certain things were quite difficult for her, yet creative things were quite easy to spark the play within her; but she got lost along the way for a while, and she started chasing and competing with the world, always among the weirdos with peculiar needs. She will recall that later in life. Today, she is following her own vision and has pulled it through against all odds.

In her youth, she knew hospital life better than the real one outside, on the street, or among ordinary people. The communication and culture in these two worlds are quite different. She realised that the primary difference lies in empathy, gratitude, and caring for the sake of the other, or unselfishness. She hopes to see it in the ordinary world of people.

The thing is, as she turned 19, she was better, and then she escaped—all that. The experience was too heavy and too much. She tried to escape being a weirdo with peculiar needs. She learned how to adjust and achieve goals, and her graduation certificate opened certain doors. Her disabilities aren't visible, and she neglected them for a while. She worked relentlessly and overnight. She enjoyed life to the fullest and forgot to take care of her own health or wallet. Then, as she turned 28, she got seriously ill for the first time. Again, she regained herself and escaped once more, working relentlessly like always. She was thinking she could outsmart her own body. She changed certain habits; biking, swimming, and the gym were her daily routine. Still, she was smoking like a chimney and eating poorly, and the thing she was unaware of was the thing she was about to understand soon after becoming a mother. Two aspects finally pushed her to face her own reality: the lack of sleep and dehydration. One cannot escape the lesson. Finally, she understood she had to face the fact that her odds and cards were dealt just as they were supposed to be.

She nearly lost her life in a car crash, and she didn’t know much about it until recently, when the family, for the first time, told her she was clinically dead, induced into a coma. She woke up the next day, on her 3rd birthday. Again, as a 9-year-old, she had a minor car crash and was flying once again. She was aware of her luck and grateful, feeling great because she was alive and kicking, but certain things didn’t go as well. She was angry, and it was growing more each day. She used to carry it within, throughout her life. That anger was going to become her greatest teacher and transform, in gratitude, after accepting herself just the way she is, and finding love in the little things. That change was still on hold and was going to happen a bit later.

Luckily, one day, a good man entered her office, and the change began. Soon enough, she changed her priorities, setting health and joy first. She stopped smoking and started learning how to breathe freely, drink water, and eat. She thanked and said farewell to two old friends, a smoke and a beer. Just before becoming a mother, she began learning to be one. That experience thoroughly changed her, putting her back on the right track of natural rhythms and pace. She finally switched to handwriting, handcrafting, shaping dough, and making pasta just like her mother and grandmother did. She started gardening, breathing, praying, and singing. Life and living finally became a therapy for her and for all around her. She finally started to chill & cool down a bit. She started creating new software within her, upgrading and updating ever since.

One morning, a silent thought opened a door to a forgotten garden. She started writing stories for her daughter. Her passion grew stronger, and her daughter cheered her on. Her friends started recognising something she didn’t see before. As she was finding herself once again, she encountered teachers who nurture natural rhythm, all human senses, respect the circle of life, and the human spirit. The most precious experience of working as a Waldorf kindergarten teacher taught her valuable lessons in being practical while caring for toddlers, helping her to reawaken all her senses, and transform her old friend, anger, into the relentless power of goodwill.

She turned to an old idea from long ago that was so bright in her heart that it pulled through and helped her to tame the dragon within. Her brain works differently because of all the early cracks and drama. Yet, it has something good to give. Marvellous images started appearing, so she painted them as a child would, setting them to fly freely across the lands and oceans of the world to reach the Stars of the Universe. She is resolute in guarding joy and nature, playing with words, and writing tales yet to come.
